Polish Air Force Academy graduate BolesÅ‚aw Michal GÅ‚adych did his first tour with the No. 303 Squadron RAF. 

After a combat crash of his spitfire in June of 1941, Gładych returned to operations in October 1941 and was transferred to 302 Squadron "City of Poznan' in July 1942, joining it after recuperative leave in December 1942.

 By May he was a Flight Commander and had been promoted to Flight Lieutenant." - American Air Museum in Britain.

After his second tour with the RAF Gładych was recruited by US Major Francis Gabreski and was assigned to Gabreski's 61st Fighter Squadron.

 Upon learning of his posting, Polish authorities temporarily expelled GÅ‚adych from the Polish Air Force from June to October 1944. 

Gładych claimed 10 ariel victories while serving with the 56th Fighter Group, and a total of 17 throughout the war."

After the war Gładych relocated to Seattle Washington where he resided until his passing on July 12, 2011 at the age of 93 years old. Lest We Forget.

Bolesław Michal Gładych was the recipient of the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Croix de Guerre, Distinguished Flying Cross, Cross of Valour (Poland), War Order of Virtuti Militari and the Silver Star with two oak leaf clusters.
